(Standardization) Bir şeyin veya et­kinliğin, belirli kurallar çerçevesinde tek bir yöntemde veya biçimde düzen­lenmesidir. Dünya çapında standartlaşma çalışmaları, 1947 yılında kurulmuş olan ve ülkelerin standartlar enstitüle­rinin üye olduğu Uluslararası Standart­lar Örgütü (International Organization for Standards : ISO) tarafından yürü­tülmektedir.
